Locke Academy was founded by Mr. Chan Weng Kit. The school got its name from the philosopher John Locke. During the 1970's, there weren’t any private schools in Negeri Sembilan, especially ones that held A Levels and GCSE for students to further their studies. Seeing the potential, he decided to open his own school in 1971 shortly after graduating from University of Malaya.
Somewhere in that 70’s, intending to further facilitate for his students, he moved into a bigger premise in Temiang to build a campus. However, he struggled to maintain students because Temiang was at that time a notorious area in the outskirts of Seremban town. Truly it was by God’s grace that my dad was able to recover and move the school back to town center with an amazing lead into Wisma MCA. Ever since, for the past decades, the school has been consistently producing results for our Accounting courses which many of our students have also achieved internationally acclaimed medals for LCCI.
LOCKE ACADEMY has moved location to Centerpoint Seremban since July 2018 after my dad's passing. As heirs, my wife and I was moved to continue in “Serving the people through education”. We both believe that the passion in dad's persevering character and heart for education is a legacy worth keeping.
