At the start of 2019, Locke Academy has opened its doors by being a conscientious communal member voluntarily. It is our involvement in teaming up with charitable and beneficial community groups, interim campaigns, and working alongside with a number of active relief organizations that we attempt to phase in by serving our society.
25 December 2021 (Christmas morning) - A relief initiative to help and support the flood victims after witnessing the devasting catastrophe sweeping down the Pahang River from Janda Baik. We worked with a team from Klang and also joined others, including DAP, going through some pretty harsh conditions along efforts.
The damage looked beyond salvage, but with hope and the determination of everyone involved, over a span of time the town was restored back to its beautiful community.
Thanks to so many sponsors, we were able to contribute a substantial amount of provisions to immediately distribute out to affected families and individuals.
We had to hire a five ton lorry in order to move the supplies from Seremban to Klang, and then straight to Mentakab.
None of this would be possible without God's divine intervention together with the support of His church. Some would have said that it was a reckless act putting our lives in danger. However we felt it was compassion and God's love which propelled us to be strong and courageous to move ahead as Christs' ambassadors.
We pushed our limitations beyond the 10km radius restrictions in order to reach out as far as we could within our state of Negeri Sembilan. Most of these people lived in rural areas which made it a challenging task for us especially in avoiding roadblocks. However, at the end, with much help, we were successful by making door-to-door deliveries to over fifty families.
A special thanks to Family Store (Rasah Jaya branch) for pitching in by helping us with the packing of our orders ahead of time so that we can avoid queuing at the counter, plus also with loading.
Since 2019, Locke Academy has been engaged with Touch Community Society (TCS) by voluntarily providing students at TCS with free lessons using Touch-type Read & Spell (TTRS) - an award-winning, multi-sensory course.
Touch-type Read and Spell (TTRS) is an online course that teaches typing, reading and spelling. It is designed to benefit students of all ages who experience spelling, reading or writing difficulties and also for students with conditions like dyslexia.
The course has also been proven to help students associated with autism by providing a structured, multi-sensory approach to learning to read and spell, even for those who struggle with auditory processing, visual perception, or motor coordination issues.
